The interpretation of serum protein electrophoresis requires a considerable amount of manual work. Several machine learning methods and expert systems have been developed in the scientific community, but only classification methods have been adopted for clinical use. PEPAI is a set of machine learning models in in-house development that classifies samples as having or not having a paraprotein and locates the paraproteins. PEPAI also includes a graphical user interface. The performance is good enough to allow partial automation.
